One of the most famous traditional entertainment in Penang is the Boria. The performance comprises two (2) segments of comedy and singing. The unique aspect of this art lies in the creativity of the 'tukang karang' accompanied by background dancers who are able to follow the rhythm of the music being played impromptu. Musical instruments that are often used in Boria performances are the violins, gambus, marwas, tabla, cymbals, drums, accordion and harmonica.
