Taman Negara Kuala Koh is known for its beautifully lush, verdant grounds. The national park is located approximately 96 kilometres from the town of Gua Musang. Safely drive along the paved roads within the forests and palm tree plantations and be captivated by the bountiful nature found along your journey.
In addition to a scenic drive, there are also numerous activities for nature lovers and the adventurous alike. Fishing is a popular activity within the park so those who are interested can visit to obtain a fishing licence, rent a boat to sail along the river and start fishing! Some ponds in Taman Negara Kuala Koh where you can enjoy fishing are Lubuk Sinar, Lubuk Kedah, Lubuk Kaloi Bawah, Lubuk Kaloi Atas, Lubuk Jengal, Lubuk Pintu Raja and Lubuk Kem Besu. Take note that Lubuk Pintu Raja is only open twice a month with a maximum capacity of three people, while Lubuk Kem Besu is only open once a month.
Birdwatching is also quite a well-known activity at Taman Negara Kuala Koh. Here, you may have the opportunity to spot different species of birds that perch upon the many trees around the park. Just a heads-up, weekends are usually busy, so if you are looking for some alone time, try dropping by the park during weekdays. Some of the birds that can be seen here include the white-rumped shama, rhinoceros hornbill, the great argus, the helmeted hornbill and the greater racket-tailed drongo. So grab a pair of binoculars and keep your eyes peeled for some fancy-looking feathery friends. Because of Malaysia’s tropical climate, birdwatching season is an all-year-round activity.
Alternatively, jungle trekking is also a much-loved activity at the park. Trek along the designated path and enjoy up-close glimpses of the fascinating flora and fauna around you. Do also take note that visitors are required to have a personal guide in order to trek in Taman Negara Kuala Koh as the park does not offer guided treks.
There is also a night walk for visitors to participate in. Venture through the park at nightfall and watch the nocturnal animals come to life. However, similar to jungle trekking, visitors are also required to hire their own personal guide to safely lead them through the trails.
There is also a canopy walk for visitors to use here. The suspension bridge is made out of strong wood and wire that stretches across the river in Taman Negara Kuala Koh. The bridge lets visitors soak in stunning views of the park at a distance, on top of being a great photo spot for those who want to capture the moment.
Needless to say, Taman Negara Kuala Koh is a haven for nature photographers. With numerous exotic plants and creatures that can be found at the park, photographers flock here for a chance to capture breathtaking images. Taman Negara Kuala Koh also provides accommodation for those who wish to enjoy a night amongst nature.
