Situated in the northeast of Kota Belud, Mantanani is a cluster of three small islands (Mantanani Besar, Mantanani Kecil and Lingisan) that gleam like jewels off the coast of Sabah. Of the three islands, Mantanani Besar is the largest and the only inhabited island. Boasting brilliant hues of dark blue, the waters are perfect for a swim, or snorkelling, diving and angling. The crystal clear waters are a paradise for an assortment of marine life ranging from large schools of fish, blue spotted rays, marble sting rays, jaw fish ribbon eels, seahorses, the rare dugongs and many more.
Mantanani’s powdery white beach is a delight for holidaymakers wanting a secluded island vacation. Bask in the sun, listen to the sound of the waves and hear the whisper of the wind. This is the perfect romantic retreat!
The gateway to Pulau Mantanani is Kota Belud, situated about 1 ½ hours’ drive from Kota Kinabalu. The boat ride to the island takes about one hour from the Kuala Abai Jetty on the mainland.
