Dear Friends of Malaysia,

Starting 3 March 2022, inbound travellers under three programmes – both air & land Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL), Langkawi International Travel Bubble (LITB) and One Stop Centre (OSC) for short-term business visitors are no longer required to undergo COVID-19 RTK-Ag tests within six days of arrival in Malaysia.

However, the existing requirement to conduct the COVID-19 test two days before departure and upon arrival in Malaysia is still enforced.

The latest directive by the Malaysian government is also to drop the requirement for travellers under the LITB programme to undergo COVID-19 RT-PCR or professionally administered RTK-Ag before leaving Langkawi. The daily self-tests for travellers from the UK throughout the mandatory quarantine period will also be lifted.

Besides that, the need for a liaison officer for short-term business visitors under OSC is no longer in effect. Nonetheless, the controlled itinerary that has been issued and approved by the OSC committee must be followed.

On another note, starting 1 March 2022, the asymptomatic close contacts of someone who has COVID-19 will no longer need to undergo home quarantine if they have had their booster shots and test negative on Day 1 and Day 3 using RTK-Ag self-test kits.

However, symptomatic close contacts who have completed their booster shots must undergo the RTK-Ag test and the mandatory five-day quarantine.

To date, Malaysia has fully inoculated 97.5% of its adult population with two doses of COVID-19, while 62.6% have had their booster shots. In addition, 90% of youth aged between 12 and 17 completed two doses and 25.5% of children aged 5 to 11 received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Another 25,548 COVID-19 patients have recovered, and at the same time, Malaysia recorded 25,854 new cases, totalling 3,468,590 cases nationwide. The country’s COVID-19 death toll is 32,827.
