Sarawak
"Spanning an area of 528.64 square kilometres, the world-famous Gunung Mulu National Park is truly a wonderland that boasts an abundance of unique geodiversity and great biodiversity. Located in Miri, Sarawak, the National Park is named after Mount Mulu, the second highest mountain in the state...."

Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in year 2000, the Gunung Mulu National Park not only boasts one of the longest chains of caves in the world, it is also home to the Sarawak Chamber – the largest natural underground chamber that can fit a total of 40 Boeing 747 airplanes! Besides that, its karst formations in its mountainous equatorial rainforest setting, is the most studied area of tropical karst in the world.

The National Park’s limestone pinnacles are also an amazing sight to behold. With the abundance of tropical rainforest in the area, sandstone pinnacles and limestones are able to form through the chain of mountains and caves, which consist of Mount Api, Mount Benarat and the majestic Mount Mulu.

"Another spectacular sight is the Garden of Eden located at Mount Api, which showcases one of the world’s finest karst collapse, with its sharp, blade-like pinnacles of limestone. The Melinau Limestone Formation, which portrays remarkable concentration of caves, a subterranean of huge chambers, and massive flowing underground rivers, is also one of the well-known sites of the park. ..."

Besides wondrous caves, Gunung Mulu National Park offers avid hikers several climbing treks – the Pinnacles Summit Trek, a hike to a wonderful view of Gunung Mulu Pinnacles; the Headhunter’s Trails, a hike to immerse yourself in the culture of the aborigines; and the Gunung Mulu Summit Trek.

The park is also home to the Mulu Canopy Walk, a 480-metre walkway suspended 25 metres above the forest floor, making it one of the longest tree-based canopy walks in the world.
