Located on the Wan Man Island of Terengganu, Taman Tamadun Islam is a large edutainment park, which highlights the magnificence of Islamic civilization whilst educating its visitors on key historical Islamic monuments from around the world. The park opened its doors in 2008, and has since been the talk of the town for those who visit Terengganu. The park embodies an Edutainment Park concept, where you get to enjoy the excellent views of the monuments, do some sightseeing or dine aboard different cruises.
Taman Tamadun Islam is not only dotted with jaw-dropping buildings that are decked out to their finest with unique architecture, but here is where you can also have fun by participating in some local activities. In addition, take a stroll through the Monument Park for an insightful learning adventure on Islamic civilisation or simply be captivated by Masjid Kristal’s glimmering exterior, which makes it a glorious sight to behold.
Known as a shining jewel on the river, Masjid Kristal was built out of steel and glass materials. This one-of-a-kind mosque was built between 2006 and 2008, with the surrounding river giving it a captivating, shimmery effect. Masjid Kristal is located above waters, facing the river mouth of Kuala Terengganu.
Masjid Kristal exudes traits of Moorish and Gothic architecture, with four minarets at the top reflecting a golden hue that is evident during the day. The interior of the mosque is decorated with large crystal chandeliers and frosted glass windows, while the corridors are decked out with magnificent latticework. The yellow mihrab that adorns the walls of the mosque also has elements of calligraphy. Masjid Kristal has the capacity to accommodate up to 1,500 people.
To reach Masjid Kristal from Kuala Terengganu Bus Station using public transport, just grab a taxi or book an e-hailing service for a quick ride to the mosque. Typically, the journey takes around 17 to 20 minutes.
