DAY

Tea Estates and Strawberry Delights

Begin your day by visiting one of Malaysia's largest tea plantations; the Cameron Valley Tea, which reflects the deep passion and commitment of the Chettiar family from South India to produce quality tea under British rule in Malaya.

Founded in the 20th century, this sprawling plantation, with its lush flora and tranquil surroundings, offers a pleasant respite from city life. Visitors are welcome to enjoy panoramic views of perfectly maintained tea plants, drink high-quality teas and participate in guided tours to learn about the sophisticated tea production process. Highlights include the Tea House, which serves fresh brews and local pastries, a gallery and souvenir store where you can learn more about tea-making, picturesque walks to capture the beauty of its gorgeous terrain as well as an on-site museum that details the estate's history.

Next, visit the local Strawberry Farm; a highlight of Cameron Highlands, offering an insider’s look into this beloved fruit's cultivation process. Strawberry farms, which were first established as part of the region's developing agricultural sector, have since grown in popularity, with numerous farms reflecting its rich history through the different activities offered. You may visit Kasimanis Strawberry Farm, Raaju's Hill Strawberry Farm, Big Red Strawberry Farm, The Lavender Garden, Healthy Strawberry Farm or Abang Strawberry Farm, all of which are within a 20-minute drive from the Cameron Valley Tea Estate. Each farm offers a distinct experience, ranging from farm tours and fruit-picking to opportunities to savour fresh strawberries and handcrafted delicacies; a must-see and do for any Cameron Highlands visit.

Top off your adventure by stopping by the Cameron Lavender Garden, known for its stunning lavender fields and vivid floral displays. Officially opened in December 2013, this garden serves as a beacon of innovative agro-tourism in the highlands. Expertly combining agriculture and tourism, it offers a sensory feast with brilliant lavender fields and a wide variety of flowers and fruit. In addition, a visit to the garden also serves as an educational experience on highland farming and temperate flora and comes complete with a gift store selling lavender-infused items as memorable tokens of your visit.

Visitors may also enjoy a relaxing stroll through the lavender fields, view the numerous flower gardens and pick fresh strawberries. The garden also has a café with beautiful views and opportunities to learn about beekeeping, making it a great place for nature lovers, photographers and families alike.

DAY

Dive into Nature and History

Kick off your second day by diving into the enchanting Mossy Forest of Gunung Irau, a must-see in Brinchang. This ancient woodland, believed to be around 130 million years old, is one of the world's oldest forests to date. Draped in mist and moisture, it is a prime spot for unique plant life such as moss, ferns, lichens and orchids. The 2.3-kilometre trail, which takes approximately three to four hours to get to its peak, offers an exhilarating day-hike through a lush montane habitat teeming with wildlife including insects, reptiles, amphibians, birds and other mammals. For a more leisurely option, explore the forest via the two-kilometre boardwalk near the peak, which can be easily accessed from the Boh Tea Sungai Palas crossroads. Just remember to secure necessary permissions for the climb ahead of time. The Mossy Forest’s magical scenery also makes it a popular spot for dreamy wedding photos, so expect to see some picture-perfect moments being captured along the way.

Next up is a visit to the Agro Market, which has since become a top tourist attraction and a favourite spot for photography this year. This must-visit destination offers a perfect blend of tourism, shopping, dining as well as a place to shop for local produce, embodying the essence of Cameron Highlands tourism. Visitors can relax in its lush surroundings, admire beautiful blooms and enjoy unique experiences that include an exploration of the bird park featuring friendly peacocks, parrots, lovebirds and mandarin ducks, as well as encounters with sheep, lop rabbits and kittens, making the Agro Market a true highlight for anyone visiting the area.

DAY

Indulge in Local Flavours and Scenic Views

Start your last day at The Sheep Sanctuary, which was established in 2019. Another delightful attraction in Cameron Highlands, the sanctuary provides a unique opportunity to engage with fluffy, friendly sheep that are largely from Australia, including some which may have been born locally as well. The sanctuary offers a clean and comfortable atmosphere, so guests do not have to worry about unpleasant odours or animal droppings. It is ideal for young children since it allows them to touch, cuddle or feed the sheep, resulting in lasting memories with these docile farm animals. The entrance fee is also reasonably priced at RM 12.

Unlike standard animal enclosures, the sheep are allowed to graze freely within an open environment. The sanctuary is located on a hill slope and is a wonderful site that offers a hands-on, immersive experience amidst a scenic environment, making it the ideal adventure for families wishing to spend quality time in the presence of peaceful farm animals.

End your tour with the distinct taste of famous local fruit at Durian Bentong, known for its outstanding quality durians, a highly valued fruit famed for its rich, creamy texture and unique flavour. The area's favourable temperature and excellent soil provide the perfect qualities for farming durian, also known as the 'King of Fruit' that has made Bentong durians extremely popular across Malaysia. The region has a long history of durian farming, as a result of local farmers honing their skills over the decades. Visitors at Durian Bentong may participate in a variety of activities such as sampling different durians, taking guided tours of the orchards and learning about the traditional agricultural methods used to produce these well-known fruits. The experience frequently offers sampling of freshly harvested durians and other durian-based goods, providing an intimate look (and taste) of the local durian culture and Cameron Highlands' agricultural legacy.
